June Project of the Month: Patriotic Coasters for July 4th

Even though it's cold and drizzling here today, summer is definitely on the way. It is by far my favorite season and I'm looking forward to kicking it off with fireworks and BBQs on the 4th of July. The perfect accessory for those celebrations on the 4th is this month's special Project: a set of patriotic coasters custom designed just for the day. Of course, you can get a couple of sets so that everyone has a place to set down those cold drinks. But if you happen to be a guest, and not a host, for the 4th, these are the perfect hostess gift for you to take. These are also a terrific year-round gift for any of our wonderful military families or anyone who loves being an American.

This project kit includes the set of 4 plain glass coasters, 4 star embellishments and the words God Bless The USA perfectly sized to fit each coaster. The words will come mirror imaged, to be applied them to the bottom of the coaster. It will read perfectly, but the top of your coaster will be smooth because all of the vinyl will be underneath. Just apply the word first, then the star.

Tip: To help with a smoother installation, use Mistick application solution and the wet installation method.

The best part about this month's project is that the entire kit qualifies for Buy 2 Get 1 FREE! You'll be able to get each kit for $27.50 (plus tax and S&H), a 25% savings!

If you'd like to get together a group of friends to make these coasters at a project party, I'm happy to come over and help. Just contact me to set the date. Your friends will also get the Buy 2, Get 1 FREE special on the coasters and anything else they purchase. And you might just earn yourself some FREE products just for hosting.

Whether you give this month's project as a gift or keep it for yourself, it's sure to be enjoyed for many and at many BBQs to come. And don't worry, mustard will wipe right off!

Late December Newsletter

Happy Holidays!

I hope all of you are enjoying the holiday season, despite the awful weather that most of us seem to be having. With just a few days to go until Christmas, I want to take this opportunity to wish you all the happiest of holidays, thank you for your support this past year, and tell you about some great deals, special offers and changes coming in the new year.
FREE SHIPPING and CLEARANCE SPECIALSFrom now through Dec. 31, get FREE SHIPPING on all orders over $50! Whether you've had your eye on some pieces for your home, have some gifts to get for January birthdays or want to get a head start on Valentine's day, save on shipping when your total order, before sales tax, reaches $50. Getting to $50 will be easy when you check out the great clearance deals in the Special Offers section of my website. You will find a variety of items with deep discounts, including a pre-painted photo board set. Our popular card sets are marked down to $3.95 a pack! There's a lot more that you'll have to check out for yourself, but don't wait because all clearance items are in limited quantity. FREE Shipping and Clearance Discounts are a double deal that you won't want to miss.
LAST CHANCE To Purchase Items from Holiday Mini CatalogDecember 31 is also your last opportunity to order from our popular Holiday Mini Catalog. The exclusive items in this catalog may or may not return in the future, so if you've had an item in mind, don't let it slip away. Among our most popular holiday items have been the Halloween Countdown Set, Mr. Bones, Pumpkinhead Activity Set, Gratitude Tree with dry erase leaves, Holiday Decor Sets, Build-A-Snowman Activity Set and the fantastic Christmas Countdown Kit. But don't forget that so many of the items in this catalog are designed with an everyday option as well as a holiday one. Certainly the Gratitude Tree is lovely year-round. Other great choices are the Double Frameworks Kit, Sentiments Photo Frame Kit, Welcome Kit with Red Vintage Embossed Metal Board, Chalk Wall Placemats and of course, the iron-on vinyl sets. There are also everyday options with the coaster kits and gift tin kits. It's worth taking a final look through this catalog before the 31st to make sure you won't miss anything you've been wanting to get.
Buy Two, Get One Free Special Makes January Parties Even More Fun
Think about January: the holiday decorations are down and your home looks a little more bare than you remember. Plus with all the holiday activity, including family events, you're kind of ready to get the kids back to school, catch up with friends and resume your daily routine. A really great way to get back into the swing of things in January is to host your own Uppercase Living party. Get some great new decorating ideas (and fill up those bare spots you're starting to notice in your home) and get your friends together to catch up on the holiday news. Put out some light refreshments (no cookies or eggnog!) and I'll bring a fun craft so you and your friends can ease into the new year at a casual get together.

The only way to add to the fun is a great offer from Uppercase Living, so here it is: Buy Two, Get One Free!!! From January 4 to 31, you can choose one item FREE for every two you buy. This promotion applies to all of our catalog items, Photo Prints and even Custom Designs! There are no limits to the savings, so start planning your shopping list. Of course, you don't have to attend or host a party to take advantage of this special. Just place your order with me or online starting January 4. However, a party is always more fun!

I'm now scheduling parties in January and February, when our Inspirations Incentive will be offering more great benefits for customers and hostesses alike. And since it's the season of giving, I'll have a bonus gift for each person who contacts me to schedule a party and mentions this newsletter. The two incentives will definitely make me very busy in January and February, so don't hesitate to contact me to get your preferred party date.
FREE INSTALLATION Special Coming in January!
I'm so excited to offer my first ever FREE INSTALLATION special throughout January. If you are one of those people who have purchased some expressions and left them in a back corner of a closet, waiting for the day you get around to putting them up, this special is for YOU!  All through January, I'll be making house calls to get those expressions out of the closet and on to the walls! While this offer is limited to those in my immediate area, please let me know if you're a little further out and would like some installation help. I'll do my best to accommodate everyone. Appointments are first come, first served, so contact me now to reserve yours.
Birthday Greetings!
Happy Birthday to the following ladies who celebrated their big day in November and December: Irina M, Mary T, Mimi C, Robyn P, Melinda M, Stephanie V, Caroline B, Kristy L, Nancy S, Kristy F, Marcy L, Vicki S, Maria A, Bonnie C, Charissa B, Heather K, Susan F, Gina H, Gina H,Jane M, Pam S, Sharon B, Patti M, Jean B, Holly F, Laurie G, Jessica D, Lauri M, and my sweet friends Amanda, Liz and Jennie. Looking Ahead

Hopefully, the next edition of Torreh's Uppercase Living News! will come to you with a brand new look. I'm working on moving my newsletter to a new provider and plan to have it ready for you by the next issue. Please bear with me if there are any hiccups during this transition.
Other things to look forward to include the Uppercase Living Inspirations Incentive, and hopefully a large scale fundraiser to be announced in January. Of course, I never know just what's around the corner, so stay tuned to this newsletter, my blog and Facebook for all the latest information.
Your Double Up Rewards Are In the Bank!
If you've purchased anything from me in the last 6 months, your purchase amount has been doubled and is waiting to be applied to the next Uppercase Living party you host! For many of you, this can increase your FREE hostess rewards by one or even two levels. During the last several months, my hostesses saved an average of $150 to $200 just by hosting a casual Uppercase Living party! To check your Double Up Reward amount, just reply to this email or give me a call and see just how much you have already earned!

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!
I'd like to extend a special "Thank You" to all of you customers, hostesses, friends and cheer leaders who have supported me and my business this last year. I appreciate each of you and don't take for granted that you allow me into your homes and your lives, tell me your family stories, and use the products I provide to enhance the spaces you live, play and work in. The best part about my job is working with so many wonderful people and watching them enjoy their homes even more when their expressions are applied (I even got a hug from a customer when I helped transform her kitchen this month!). I look forward to working with you all in 2011 and well beyond.
May you all spend the holiday season surrounded by those you love and have a happy, healthy New Year filled with special moments.
All the best,

Hostess Center Helps Maximize Your Hostess Rewards
Ever since the new Hostess Center on my website was unveiled this summer, hostesses have loved using the tools it provides to help them maximize their free benefits for having a party. It's easy to send out invitations, keep an eye on RSVPs, send reminders, and best of all, watch your rewards add up as your guests place online orders! By far the most exciting part of the Hostess Center is that it allows you to invite friends and family from anywhere in the US or Canada to place orders associated with your party and earn hostess credit for those purchases. This not only gives hostesses maximum flexibility, but it also lets them have online-only parties no matter where they are located. I'd love to help you earn the most hostess benefits possible by using the fabulous Hostess Center. Contact me to schedule your fall party and I'll make sure to help you navigate this fun tool.

You can even customize them by pre-ordering custom letters, monograms or designs. Customer Celebration Day #2 - FREE SAMPLER Monday October 4

Less than two weeks since our last Customer Celebration Day comes another one!! The next one is Monday October 4, and once again, everyone who places an order that day will receive a FREE vinyl sampler.
The sampler, a $14.95 value, comes in Soft Gold and has enough designs for several projects. This time of year, you can use it to create a number of gifts, or something special for yourself. Here are just a few suggestions:

Applied to the black Punched Metal Tile and accented with pink Mini Blooms, it makes a sweet magnet board with a French flair.  It would also look lovely on any of the other color tiles.

The dandelion design in the sampler looks stunning on our new square Photo Frame.  Here it's been paired with a "Breathe" Simply Words expression, but I think it would look beautiful by itself, as well. Whether you keep it for yourself or give it as a gift, this elegant piece will be treasured.
Of course, you know I was going to include a coaster suggestion in this post, didn't you? Yes, I love our coasters, and this sampler lends itself very well to a coaster project or two. I think the best thing to do when you get it home is put together a set of coasters with the snowflakes or small leaves, wrap it in holiday paper and put it away. In a couple of months, you will need a hostess gift or small item for a gift exchange and you'll be ready to go!
Of course, you can mix the designs from the sampler with other Uppercase Living expressions, like on this Acrylic Block. The leaves have been added as a border to add extra interest and color to the Give Thanks expression.

All you have to do to receive your FREE Customer Celebration Sampler is to place an order on Monday Oct. 4. You can email me or order directly from my website. I'm so glad Uppercase Living is offering this great gift to thank all of you wonderful customers. I hope you'll email me photos of how you use it in your home.

For You Lovers of Pottery Barn: Everything Is Coming Up Roosters!

Earlier this year, when Uppercase Living introduced our brand new Decorative Prints, I kind of scratched my head and wondered about them including a rooster set among the first few designs. Of all the possible choices, I thought, why start with something as random as roosters? Imagine my surprise when I opened my latest Pottery Barn catalog and saw a number of different items using, you guessed it, roosters! Once again, it seems that the UL designers were ahead of a trend by including those and all the other roosters in our catalog.

As it turns out, roosters are a symbol of luck and good fortune, and who doesn't want some of that good fortune represented in their home decor? Tuscan legend has it that one rooster's crow once saved an entire village from danger.

The tremendous variety in Pottery Barn's roosters lends them to lots of different decorating uses. From bright and whimsical, to understated folk art; from small details to large pieces, there's a way for everyone to include this cheerful trend in their decorating.

Whether you're ahead of the trends, have always loved roosters, or you'd like to add a little French Country flair to your home for the first time, Uppercase Living also has a choice for everyone.  Of course, the most vivid are those original Rooster Decorative Prints. The artwork on these is beautiful and the feathers are so lifelike. The touches of red would tie in beautifully with any other red items in a room. You can use these guys as a set or scatter them throughout your kitchen, living room or entry. I think they would look really cute on a back splash or just hanging out right above the baseboard. They come in 3 sizes to give you lots of options.

The rooster motif is also available in our matte vinyl. This choice gives you almost unlimited versatility for not only are these two rooster styles available in all of our 40+ colors, but they also come in sizes ranging from 3 to 18 inches. The smaller sizes can be applied to individual tiles in a back splash, used to create a border or applied to our coasters to create a decorative accessory or gift for a rooster lover.

The larger size can be applied alone or in a grouping right to the wall.  It can also go on a tile or board to create a decorative accent. Here, a rooster in Whipped Creme is shown on our new Punched Metal Tile in Berry. You can continue the French Country theme by looping a ribbon through the holes and hanging it from our new Fleur de Lis medallion.
A more subtle effect is achieved by applying the rooster embellishments in Etched Glass on a glass kitchen door or cabinet front. Another idea is to use the Welcome Rooster in the black square Frameworks, as shown here. This is another idea of a great piece for your own home or for a sweet gift. The red vinyl picks up the tones in the cabinetry without being a perfect match.
For something completely different, try our brand new Barnyard pack, part of the Erasables line. Also available in dry erase vinyl, this set lends true country charm and whimsy to a kitchen. But it's just as cute in a child's farm themed bedroom, playroom, or even a classroom.

I have to admit that even I've been surprised at the versatility of roosters in decorating. With a few accessories and a vinyl piece or two you can play with this fun trend without making any permanent changes or major investments. Sure, you could buy a $400 ceramic rooster, but you can spend much less on Uppercase Living roosters and have a lot left over to decorate the rest of your home too!

Cheap and Easy Gift Giving with Buy Two, Get One FREE

UL's Buy Two, Get One FREE promotion is in full swing and lots of smart customers have been saving a ton on their purchases. Whenever a great deal like this comes along, I always recommend that people stock up. For some of my customers this presents a mental block. With so much product to choose from, it can become difficult to choose items for the future without concrete details available. Never fear, though. I'm here to make the process easier.

Using this promotion to purchase several gifts at once, will not only save you plenty of money, but lots of time and stress, too. Just follow my simple steps and you'll be done in no time.

First, take a look at your calendar and make a list of all the occasions that you'll have to purchase gifts for in the next few months. In addition to specific dates and holidays, keep in mind milestone events such as retirements, graduations and the end of the school year. As you're doing this, make a list of each person who you'll need a gift for on each occasion. For example, under Mother's Day, you might have your mom, mother-in-law and grandmother.

Now, this is the part where you can save yourself a ton of time: figure out how many people you can give the same type of gift to, with a slight variation if needed. So for Mother's Day, you might choose a metal charger with a Mother's Day expression on it, but you would vary the color scheme to match each recipient's favorite colors or decor. Or for your children's teachers, you might choose to give a set of coasters with different monograms or a different embellishment depending on each teacher's interests.

From here you can begin to make your shopping list. Most likely, you will have a Foundations (accessory) piece and a vinyl expression (or a set of them) for each person. Here's the part where you realize just how much you can save: as you tally the number of items you will need, remind yourself that every third one is FREE. So, if you need 6 acrylic blocks, for example, you'll receive 2 FREE. And here is where you can really save. If you've done your homework and picked out enough items to reach $200 (not including the free items) you can submit your order as a party order, get even more free items and FREE SHIPPING.

Let's face it. Many of us find ourselves in a difficult financial situation right now. We're cutting corners where we can and that may include gift-giving. But there are certain people and occasions that we just can't and don't want to ignore. A little planning and smart shopping can let you stay within budget and give a thoughtful, personalized gift. If Costco could provide the perfect individualized hand made gift program, this is what it would be like: the perfect gift priced as low as $10-$15 apiece. If you're short of ideas, I've got plenty and they won't cost you a thing!

Peace Out!

Great news! Uppercase Living now offers a Peace Sign! At almost every party I've done my customers have asked about one for their tweens and teens, and even themselves. I'm thrilled that we now offer this in all of our colors (I'm thinking Shimmer Pink would be cool!) in sizes ranging from 2" to 18". I might have to make me a set of Peace coasters right away. This is just so groovy!

Oooh La La - Heather's Kitchen

When I decided to become an Uppercase Living demonstrator, I knew there would be lots of things about my new job that I would love. What I didn't think about was how many interesting people I would meet and how many lovely homes I'd be invited into.

Earlier this month I did a party at the home of one of the busiest women I've met yet. Heather is an active mom who is passionate about her involvement in her child's school; she teaches, travels, is an avid decorator and a competitive baker. She is a devoted friend and amazing hostess. Now that I've tasted her creations, I'm not surprised that she has has won numerous ribbons for her baking and shot two Food Network pilots . This woman knows her stuff: just check out this gorgeous table she set for her Uppercase Living party. Aren't her guests lucky?

I met Heather about 9 months ago when she was a guest at her friend's Uppercase Living party. Drawing upon her expertise in contracting and decorating, she quickly sized up my catalog and declared that she's seen similar products in showcase homes. She chose a few expressions for her home, but wasn't satisfied with our standard offerings for her kitchen. So she chose our expression, "Eat Well, Laugh Often, Love Much" and decided to translate it to fit her French theme kitchen. The translating part was easy for Heather, because, of course, she's fluent in French. Together we worked on a design that incorporated Fluers des Lis in two sizes. Mind you, this was before the upgraded MyDesign Suite was available so creating a design of this size was not easy. Nevertheless, Heather had a vision and she was undeterred.

What a thrill it was when I visited Heather's home to see that vision beautifully executed in the perfect spot in her kitchen. I don't know how many times I heard her guests say, "Have you seen the lettering in her kitchen?"

When I joined Uppercase Living, I knew that I would love seeing our products used in unique applications to express my clients' personality and individuality. Heather's kitchen is the perfect fit of product, client and design. My only challenge now was to create a hostess gift for Heather that would fit in with her ooh la la decor. Luckily, UL made that easy: Fluers des Lis coasters, of course!

Another Great Idea for UL Coasters

Can you tell how much I love our coasters for holiday gifts? This great idea is from another one of our creative demonstrators, who created these for her children's teachers. Each teacher only needs one for her desk and since it has her name on it, she doesn't have to worry about someone taking it "by mistake." Although, who wouldn't want one of these? Add a packet or two of hot cocoa or a gift card for coffee to make this a gift that will be used and appreciated.

This idea could be easily adapted for the ladies at the hair salon, friends in the office or any group of people who work together.

Let me know if you need help creating the perfect set of coasters for the people on your gift list.

More Project Night Ideas

I've already told you about my Project Night on Dec. 4th. So you know that you can pick from the kits in the Holiday Catalog, the projects I've created or come up with your own, like my friend Karynn did. As you make your final project choices (don't forget the ordering deadline is just a few days away) here are four more ideas for you to consider. What I love about all of them is their versatility and your ability to completely customize them. Each gift you make can truly be one of a kind.

1. Photo Coasters: Uppercase Living coasters embellished with vinyl squares to protect the photos that you provide. Gifts don't get more personalized than this. 2. Glass Candle Tray: Embellished with an "etched glass" medallion, this charger becomes an elegant gift that can be displayed on the included easel when it's not holding the candles you add.

3. Reversible Holiday Chipboard Accordion: I love items that can be used for more than one holiday. This cute chipboard accordion has a Christmas greeting on one side and is ready for Valentine's day on the other.

You choose the embellishments and colors; I'll provide the coordinating background paper and ribbon. Paper and ribbon will vary from what's pictured.

4. GIVE Box: You may have seen this in my last newsletter but I love it so much that I had to feature it again. This is our acrylic block embellished with our two part "Give" expression. The block includes a top that turns it into a bank. The idea behind this item is to fill it with spare change throughout the holidays and then donate the contents to a charitable organization at the end of the season. Although it's pictured here in shimmery holiday colors, I think it's worth keeping out and using all year, both at home and at work.

Contact me for pricing or to reserve your kits. Remember, you don't have to attend Project Night to work on these kits.
